Sweetwater Tournament - Feb 25 & 26

Notes found a year later after the 2023 Tourney:

Saturday Feb. 26, 2022:

Friday's pool play went very well. Second match was against essentially beginners, but third was against a solid team. Lost the lead at 23 to lose 25-23, but won the second by two riding out an early lead. The third game got a good start and won.

So 3-0 in pool and now against winners of other pools. My guess is that we'll go 0-4 in sets; pool winners look like they have 6 experienced players on the court at all times; we only have four or five. Nate is our lone senior.

But, hey, glory for the moment is glory remembered.

Later that day:

Good tourney for UCHS VB. After sweeping yesterday (two very close matches), we were seeded 11 out of 16 in today's single-elimination round.

First we played #6 Helix. After an 0-8 start in Set 1, we lost by two. We then won Set 2 by two and then Set 3 by a few.

Then we played #3 Bishops. Dash was serving 22-21, made a couple to make it 24-21, then served into the net. Still, all we need was a sideout to win. Never happened. A bunch of unforced errors (1 senior, three Juniors, some young players).

UCHS took Set 2. Dash had seven straight service points before serving into the net, but the lead was held. Win by two.

Final Set 13-15 loss for a second match score 24-26, 25-22, 13-15

So, in four matches against good teams, they took three - but they were all competitive games.

A good tourney.
